The Nose That Sees & The Eyes That smell
This project started with a simple question, “how would smell look like?” It then developed into an in depth project that resulted in the design of perfume bottles, fragrances and images.
The content of the project entails three stories as the main body of the project (Neurouge, Fanie and Chanosh) Each story uses the passage of time and memory as a binder between two places from the past and the present.
Each story is told in both olfaction and imagery, together they create a unique way of storytelling which can be experienced with the sense of smell and sight. It binds the sense of sight and smell into a shared archive. mountains softened into hills, a village’s teapot and an urban cup lifting the same amber steam. It charts the gentle geometry of moving away and settling elsewhere. stitching the past and the present into a olfactory dance. It composes an atlas of small ceremonies, tea, fruit, fireworks and smoke showing how cultures echo and how memory, shared by nose and eye, builds belonging.
